I live in east Michigan but I've been buying crickets from my local pet provisions for a bit. You can get a box of 250 for 10. I think 500 for 15 and so on. They're *probably* local only, though. So I guess my advice is to poke around at pet stores that aren't Petsmart or Petco, the smaller the better.
In general if you can do that you'll probably save a ton of shipping. I used to get a dozen hornworms from them with their feeding tube and all for 15 bucks, would've cost me around 30 to get from Great Lakes I think. Also, they receive the crickets for you which will be worth something when it's either freezing or hot out.
