cricket shipment swarmed with ants

Help!

What do i do!

I hate to have to post a thread like this but just got home and my box of 500 crickets has 10 millions ants all over then.

What should i do.

I called the bassets ranch and they closed at 3pm

Yup.

Opened the box.

95% total loss at least

Ugh. what a crock.

I guess the question now is how do i salvage any live ones or is it a total loss at this point

Edit after the fact
So i salvaged what i could and took pictures of the carnage in case they want to be very kind and issue a credit/partial for my new order.

Saved maybe 100?

Anyways... lesson learned... send them to a person or ask to delay shipment delivery

I'm guessing you had them delivered during the day and they set them on the ground in front of your door? I've had this happen before and it's not fun. Next time have a table or plant stand cleared off with a large note asking your mail carrier to please place it on there, which should help. Or, you could have them hold the box for pick-up - it's a bit of a pain, but you wouldn't lose all those crickets. If it is the case that they were delivered and then the ants covered them while at your home I wouldn't see why the company should issue a credit for something that happened after they shipped it.
