Is this something he will grow out?

My almost 2 mo old panther wont eat pinheads.

He ate a bunch of them the 2 times i have ran out of flies and bought some crix for replacement. He was really hungry from waiting so long for food.

Other than that, nope. He will run laps around his cage eating up flies, even though there are several pinheads contained to his cup.

Really? Really? Must we be that picky Hubble? Ugh.

Any tips?

Thank you!

im not really sure how small a 2 month old is, but can you go up a size in crickets to maybe.. interest him in them again?

if that doesnt work you can just send him to his room with no tv for a week and see if that changes his tune!:p

He's pretty small still. From nose to vent about 1.5 inches. I put an 1/8th cricket in there tonight but hes still not interested. (I bought a turquoise veiled spontaneously at repticon and thats what he's eating...yes, this whole chameleon thing is becoming a sickness!!!! i need moreee!!!!!:p).

ahah!
The new game plan: feed him crix in the morning and flies later in the day....
Eat your broccoli or no dessert Hubble! :p

Do you think he will develop a taste for crickets?
Are crickets an acquired taste?

Hubble's a great name. I think feeding only crickets for a few days might help.
Thanks! He seems to like it too. haha. That sounds like a good plan. It wont trigger a hunger strike right?

take the crickets out of the cup.

I agree let them run loose in the cage and let him hunt them down. Maybe that will work

Thank you both. I will do so.
When he was a little younger I let the pinheads roam around...I actually caught him chasing a cricket...then ignoring it to hunt down a fly.

Hopefully since he's a little older the trick you mentioned will work!

Last resort: I could make little fly costumes for the crickets and dress them up. :p

Update: He ate them! After a few hours of starving and hunting like a mad man for flies....

1/8th crickets, which are a bit bigger than the "rule" for him, where what sparked his interest.
Also, the no-cup thing really worked too.

After he ate all the crickets Hubble was sitting under his heat lamp with that "after thanksgiving dinner" look! lol

Thanks you all:D

When he gets a little bigger, instead of a cup, try using a tub. It allows him to hunt, but the bugs are contained for your peace of mind.

Just to let you know you did the right thing, he won't grow out of it, he'll get worse if you play along........eat your broccoli or no desert is the way it has to be. I'm learning my lesson the hard way with my male Veiled now, he's 10 months old and he hasn't eaten a cricket in months....fussy little tree lizard! Be strong with him and don't take no nonsense - if he's hungry he'll eat his crickets, flies are treats :D
