hey i created this post cause i wasnt so sure on how you guys keep your crickets. Im guessing in a tank with egg cartons? i just want to know what that looks like and how/where you feed them. pictures would be REALLY nice. Thanks guys :D

Before you run into the same problem I've ran into several times lol, make sure you have a lot of ventilation and a lot of water crystals for your crickets. I had a few holes in the top of my container and half of the 1000 crickets in a few days were gone. They didn't have enough water too and I thought the fresh veggies and fruits were enough.

Give them a lot of space, a lot of hiding spots, ventilation, food, and hydration.

That's what I learned from reading the forums, and many others will tell you the same!

Some cricket keepers on here keep their crickets alive for over a month!

what exactly are "water crystals" and how do i use them? also to they make noise? because that sound they make really pisses me off -.- lol

water crystals are a cricket food, that is sold in most pet stores - they are green cubes (can be different) and are just a water supplement for them.

They make noise when they are older, if you have a small cham, you shouldn't here any chirps for a while. But, when you get larger crickets - I usually put them in another room to not listen to them all night!

right. i just need to see a picture on what mine should look like just so i have an idea. Im a beginner haha sorry to bust your chops; but i want to do EVERYTHING right when i purchase my chameleon ya know?

I hear ya. I just got my first cham on Wednesday, I did a solid month of research..It's way better to go in prepared!

Give me a minute and I'll link a thread

keeping crickets alive is a very easy task.

per 1000 - 3000 crickets

enclosure: 18 gallon sterilite container w/no top. if you chose to have a top on it make sure to cut a very large portion of it out and glue in screen in place of it. place in egg carton/crate. make sure to have enough for all the crickets to be able to climb on.

food: any gut load mix.

water: i don't use a single water crystal, cotton swab or sponge. fresh fruits and veggies. if you use fruits be sure to remove the un eaten portions everyday.

temps: i keep mine at room temperature 72-76*

i literally lose maybe and this is a maybe 10 per crickets out of a thousand that i visibly see in a weeks time. some could get eaten that i don't see.
