Creature is Maybe Dying... :'(

I have read about them not eating and they said that they can go about a month without food, so I think I just over reacted. If anything happens I will be sure to post it. :)

Not eating is one issue, not moving and not drinking are telling you she is dying. I have offered to pay for a vet, what is the problem??

Just try flying foods see if that can make her interested, but eye closing is a problem, and you should at least call a vet and ask their opinion if you can't get to one. Thats a really good sign if she is drinking and moving, just wait 24 hours and if she seems bad off then you will need to bring her in to a vet.

I hate to sound rude but a cham that can't move is not going to be catching flying food.

my panther didn't eat for just over a week after laying some eggs, she had crickets, meal worms and wax worms offered but wasn't interested in any of them. She walked around still but quite often was just laying under her basking area. We did give her liquid calcium by putting it in a cup of water and allowing it to drip as she was still drinking. She looked awful on about day 8 and we thought it was pretty serious so called our vet who put us in contact with a specialist but they were unavailable for us to get to them that day. The next day we bought some locusts from the pet shop and as soon as we put one in our cham started eating! It's a week later now and she is back to normal. i think after you take it to the vet you should give more variation in their food for sure as they most probably got bored of it but then again there may also be some underlying issue which only the vet will be able to give you advise on.

Well she stated that her chameleon is moving around, and she may just be weak from not eating for this long, and this has happened to me before, and he snapped right out of it when I offered him flying food, I only say this because I have experienced it. And I don't think your rude. And exactly HermannChameleon this happened to my chameleon also, sometimes chameleons will hunger strike for weeks if they dont get the foods they want, but I couldnt get my hands on locust so I bought flys. :)

Laurie that was so nice of you offering to pay for the vet. People need to have money set aside for things like this. Or at least have access to cash for emergencies

dying

Hi get a baggie, put crickets in there, smash them real good, force his mouth open n cut a hole in the corner, like frosting in a cake,n squirt it in the mouth ,better than letting it die good luck

When did the owner say they wouldn't pay for it, or that they couldnt afford to take it to the vet, all they said was that they didn't have any around where they live?

Laurie told them to reply to her pm, if you read back....... Then she said that she offered to pay for their vet bill.

Give me some more details on the waxworms you fed her.

How many in one feeding, how often. Were they kept on any wood shavings when you bought them. Any details you can give.

I had a male panther die last year, and when I cut him open I found a mass of waxworms in his colon....even though I had not fed him that many waxworms at once, and the last time I had fed him waxworms was over a month prior to his death.
