Correct materials for indoor and outdoor enclosures

Hi All,

I'm in the process of 1. Bug-proofing my outdoor enclosure which is currently just made of hardware cloth and 2. Making plans for a custom indoor enclosure.

I've read that many people use aluminum screen, but I've also heard that some types of screen cause damage to Cham's feet and nails. What's the best material to use for making a new home for them?

Thanks for any advice!

I meant to answer your question from the previous thread and forgot.

I ended up leaving my cages exactly how they were with the hardware cloth and then I simply added the aluminum screen to the outside facing of the wood. It was quite ugly at first. I ended up going around the screen edges with moulding just to clean it up a bit. It essentially created a half inch gap between the screen and hardware cloth.

I too hate screen because it is hell on chameleons nails.

Hmm, I can't really do that with my outdoor enclosure. It's just 3 feet of hardware cloth wrapped between a couple of 17 inch circular trays and secured with a bunch of zip ties.

What's th e safest type of screen to use for custom indoor enclosures? I do plan to freerange a good bit of his food so hardware cloth is a nogo.

I'd appreciate some more advice on this, if anyone's got it. Is there something better to use than aluminum screening for a DIY indoor panther cage? I'm loathe to use hardware cloth inside of aluminum screening, because bugs could hide in the space between and I could see that going badly for the chameleon's tongue.

I don't know if this is.of use...

The doors of my glass terrarium is made of mosquito nets in a wooden frame ... I think it's made of glass fiber or something...
It has about the same size of mech but isn't as tough so it doesn't harm my cham's feet/nails...
downside is that it isn't to strong and it's slightly harder to look trough.

the top of my glass is made of gasoline screening. (freely translated from Dutch). It also seems more forgiving than aluminium screening. But I think it's pretty expensive.
