Considering getting a Jacksons Chameleon this fall...

Hi, I am somewhat new at this chameleon owning thing but it's a fun and very knowledgeable thing! I have had my 3month old male Veiled Chameleon for about 1 1/2 months now and have had my female Veiled Chameleon for about a week she is 11 months old. I am not trying to rush through getting all the species I can... I'm not going to do what I did with turtle (another story for another time) but I am looking more into getting a young male Jacksons Chameleon and possibly a female. Now don't get me wrong I am doing my research on them and they seems pretty simple. To whoever owns one would you be willing to share info and stories pics too! That would be great! :)
thanks [[^ChameleonRave^]]

They need more humidity and they could take lower temps... also females don't lay eggs they give life birth. I got a couple pics on my profile.

You are rushing. Relax and take care of your veiled. You are trying to get one many chameleons like a little kid getting a stuffed animal all the time. I I were you I would wait. I am saying it to help you

I already said I am not rushing... That's why I am waiting for fall or until I move next may. So yeah I am taking care of my chams. And not rushing if you read it thouroughly it says Im not trying to rush to get all of the species I can u am just fascinated by this species.

There is something I didn't know! Do you know why they give live birth instead of laying eggs? And are they the only chameleons that do so.

That is so cool! :) I love the horns on them an the colouring! And they look like they are entrigued with every twitched of their eyes to look back! :D

He is sooo active and curious it's hard to keep track of him sometimes. He owns the living room!!! He loves to walk around on the floor. The cats will walk up to him to give an occasional sniff and he puffs right up at them and truly looks ferocious!!! It's really funny to watch!! Then he continues on his way as happy as can be. He never puffs up at me...calm as can be..nothing bothers him. He looks at everything and never misses anything. He's a really fun and intriguing pet..one of the most interesting I've ever had!!!:):):)

I think that, that is soo incredible! So layed back and gentle! Is yours wc or ch or cb? I wish I could say the same with my Darwin he hates getting taken from his home to free range but after he out he doesn't want to go anywhere but up my arm! :) and my female Delilah doesn't care who handels her but if your new around her she warns you off! She never turns dark colours and never tries to bite at all! :) it's nice
having a gentle cham! :)

Well aren't you lucky. The latest edition of the Chameleons Online E-Zine contained an entire article on Jackson's Chameleons in captivity. It's a good read, and full of a lot of pertinent information. :)

I read that article and it is fantastic!!! It's funny because there isn't much info on Jackson's...many people own and talk about their Veileds and Panthers but not a lot of info on Jackson's. When I got him a year and a half ago I almost had to wing it because the info was such slim pickings. I think that it's great that someone actually wrote an article focusing on just the Jackson's chams and husbandry for just them :):):)

Haha I totally forgot about that! Thanks a ton!!! I am reading the book Chameleons care and breeding of Jacksons panthers veileds and parsons by a bunch of authors lol

Thats a great book to have. Sean McKeown wrote the chapters on the jacksons. He knows his stuff. And Ken Kalisch and Gary Ferguson also contributed to that book. Both those guys are pioneers in the cham hobby.

Haha I bet it's great! I am reading a section about the care and breeding for jacksons right now the birth is weird! Like a cat except their dropped ad hopeful break out of the sack! D: and if they don't the first time you have to drop them again! Crazy!

I got him from LLLreptile and they said he is CB. He has doubled in size since I got him. He doesn't even have a cage anymore and honestly he moves around so much I worry about ever having to put him in one. I think he'd go crazy. I also think veileds are great but I don't think I could deal with their temperamental personalities. I like to be upfront and personal with my pets to much. :):):):)

I read that somewhere about having to drop the babies to get them out of the sack  But, I've been thinking of getting a nice female. I'd like to find one that has the red coloration just to see how the babies would look like? This is in the wayyyy future though..I'm not prepared yet for another Jackson's. Right now one is enough..LOL!! :):):):)

I'm thinking of getting a male from FlChams for my first one only 75$ :)

It is such a great book! When I first got my very first Red Eared Slider Turtle I bought a book from the same group who wrote the Cham book! It helped out alot since the past 2 years went by with my trtles :) and the Cham book is my fav. Tons of words but very easy read and quick too!
