This is huge Conservation Biology news, a Wolverine has been spotted in California. This Wolverine is the first Wolverine spotted in California since off and on sightings of Buddy starting in 2008. This species travels large distances and maybe in the processes of reclaiming historical habitats in California. Great news.

I didn’t know wolverines were ever in California!!! Wow!
Wolverines were alegedly hunted out of California during the 1920's. However there has been reports of them in the Sierra Nevada Mountains since then till now. This topic has reached cult levels for Sierra Nevada Mountain Biologist following this issue. The photo documentation of these California Wolverines is a recent event.

I thought they couldn´t live so far off snow, since they hunt in deep snow
The Sierra Nevada Mountain range evidently has got enough snow and cold through out the year. That these Wolverines are capable of living and breeding in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The Sierra Nevada Mountains is listed as historically having a population of Wolverines.

All range maps for the species "Wolverines" in North America include the California Sierra Nevada Mountains.

This YouTube News Report is about the latest sightings of Wolverines in California. This video says the Wolverine was spotted in three counties in eastern Central California Sierra Nevada Mountians and does not mention the photograph in the link posted above at Mammoth Mountain, Southern Sierra Nevada Mountains. Is there multiple Wolverines? The species is known for traveling large distances. However there was recent sightings in Southern California, Sierra Nevada Mountains now Central California, Sierra Nevada Mountains. The news is looking intriguing about the possibilitiy of multiple Wolverines in the state of California.

Excellent news! I hope there are more and they’re getting busy repopulating their species.
The species is making a return to old historic native range area's. Wolverines are making a natural return to states such as Oregon and Washington. The last couple years there has been talks about reintroducing the species to the native range state of Colorado. Based on the observations Wolverines appear to want to return to California and return to the state as part of the species native range the last couple of decades.
