Confused about Supplementation

I have a Male Veiled Chameleon Baby (3.25 inches and 5 weeks old)

I have Rep Cal Calcium with Vit. D3, and Reptivite Multivitamin.

I have Rep Cal Calcium without Vit. D3 coming in the mail.

What should my schedule be for supplementing :confused:

Should I sprinkle the crickets, their food, or both?

(I will be gutloading the crickets with lettuce, carrots, small amounts of potato, and other leafy greens)

Thanks so much, Dominic :):D:p:rolleyes::eek::cool:

Mine dust five times a week with calcium with out d3. I dust with reptivite every other week and dust with calcium with d3 every other week, one each week and one day a week I don't feed

I strongly recommend checking out sandrachameleon's blog for her dry gutload recipes.

Our crickets, locusts and roaches are all gutloaded with her dry gutload recipe and some bug burger or fresh fruit/veg.

Prepare to spend some good $$$ to get all the ingredients. Totally worth it for a happy, healthy cham.

General opinion on supplementation is pretty much exactly as chameleonkev says.

I believe it's best to dust your feeders rather than their food.

Lettuce and potato are not very good gutload choices. I would recommend some fruit like apples or oranges. Maybe some sweet potato (yams) and bell peppers.

And yes, do read Sandra's blogs!

With that brand you want to use the calcium without D3 almost every feeding, use the calcium with D3 twice a month or so, and use the multivitamin once or twice a month.

agreed, this is more or less a good schedule for that brand. Dust LIGHTLY onto feeders. Adjust the schedule according to the type of feeder, etc.

I agree to both. I use Rep-Cal too. For my 1 year old veiled I give him Calcium no D3 every feeding, Calcium with D3 twice a month, and Herptivite (Multivitamin) twice a month.
