Conflicting info on certain plants...

I picked up a philodendron and elephant ear over the weekend and wanted to use them in Chazam's cage. If you don't already know, he is a verrucosus and I'm not worried about him eating the leaves. I didn't find these two plants on FL's list and after a brief search here on old posts, the opinions seem to differ.

What says y'all? They're nice and big and I would love to utilize them! Please and thank you! :)

I think the worry is usually that they might eat the leaves and so you want something that obviously is not going to be toxic. If he does not eat the leaves then I do not know of any other dangers. Maybe a skin irritant and I cannot say for sure but to me a plant that is "cham safe" is an edible one.

Thanks, Carol! Anybody else have .02?

The only other problem you may want to consider is if he catches his prey item and somehow his tongue catches it along with a piece of the plant and he ingests it.

hmmmm, yes...I did not consider this. The foliage is pretty thick on these two plants. I think the philo is fine, it's the elephant ear that concerns me. Thanks for the input!

thanks for the back up pssh and showjet I did not think of those two things!!! So i guess there are many reasons to consider that a plant is safe.
