Concerned about Sancho..

Sancho

Yesterday I came home from work at 5PM and I went in to water him and noticed he was sleeping and I brushed it off and misted him anyway he moved a little but it didn't upset him or anything. This morning I turn on his lights at 7am and normally by 8am when I leave he is up in his basking spot well that was not the case today. I made a call home to my daughter and asked her to look and let me know how he is doing and she said hes been moving around but his eyes have been closed a lot today.

He hasn't pooed yesterday or today so I'm waiting to see how his urates look.

As many of you know I took him outside for the first time on Saturday and there was a little breeze that kicked up every now and then. Do you think he could of got sick from being outside for no longer then 20 minutes?

Whatever is going on with sancho, sounds just like Leo.. Sorry man, I know what you are going through..:(

Im crossing my fingers for ya..I took Leo out on Monday and he has gone down hill since..:(

Hey man, Sorry to hear about Sancho.

IMO , it would be best to get him to the vet ASAP. I would not wait for him to show improvement or go down hill.

I am hoping for the best.

I don't believe taking him outside would have anything to do with it or made him "sick". Although anything is possible.

I didn't think so. Daughter just called and said he pooped and the urates are white/yellow/red

My guess would be orange not red. He may be a little dehydrated extra misting will help that.

Bag up that poop and go to the vet. I think thats your best bet

Can she get the poop into a ziplock bag for the vet? Sounds like he does need a vet visit and I agree with Ryan that being outside shouldnt have caused a problem.

Good luck and my fingers are crossed for him :)

I feel terrible hearing about your cham, sancho. I hope everything is ok after he sees a vet and has time to recover.

Best wishes,
Ryan

She won't touch it LOL cham scares her as it is after witchy nearly took my finger off. I will collect the poo when I get home and give him a warm shower when I get home.

Good luck with Sanchito bra, I hope he's ok.;)

Thanks Jay! Daughter has been calling me every 5 minutes and letting me know what he is doing. She just called and said he is walking around with his eyes open and is sitting under his basking spot. My question is could he just be lazy at the moment or sleepy?

I wonder if he might have been constipated? If he has his eyes open now, etc. maybe he had to poop really bad and finally passed it.

I know im putting human terms on a chameleon, but...

Sorry to hear that Sancho may have a problem. I too agree that going outside shouldn't make him sick. I take my guys outside all the time.....even when it's windy. I also think a vet visit is in order.......better safe than sorry. I'll keep my fingers crossed for him and you. Jann

UPDATE: Took Sancho to the vet when I got home and the vet said right away that he is dehydrated and took the poo to do a float on it. Sancho is keeping one eye closed most of the time only opening it every once in awhile Doc said it was a sign of dehydration. Sancho spent 45 minutes in the shower and drank like a mad man! I've never seen him drink that much ever.
