Computer fan type (crix)

Alright, so i know its been discussed a lot about people using fans to help with the cricket smell.. However, i'm curious if it matters what brand or size you use? I've never looked at computer fans before. Are their different sizes with different air flows? Are they all reliable or are their certain brands i should not be looking at. And last but not least, do you only use on fan per cricket bin?

as far as the crickets go i am unsure. however, i have built a few computers and fans inside a pc are critical. generally speaking theres 80mm, 120mm, and 140mm fans. obviously the bigger the fan and the more rpms the more air movement. these fans run off 12v, you cant just plug em into the wall. heres a link to a site that sells all kinds of pc fans for cheap

Thank you for the info. I know they are 12v. I have seen many people have them plugged into the wall though. Can you re wire them to another plug that plugs into a wall? Or does it not work that way?

Mine all plug into the same timers that run everything else. But mine are used for airflow for cham cages not for cricket bins. I have tine tiny fans, They are make by ThermOcool. mine do not come with a plug but hubby wires them. If you put your hand on the underside of the fan the is no draft at all but above the fan you can feel the air. mine are maybe 3 or 4 inches square and work like chams, they are designed to go into computers. The only cost about $10 each. I buy 10 at a time. I use them on any cage that might need more air flow. If you want more info pm me.

personally i would stay away from rewiring anything, especially if im plugging it in inside my home. i would talk to a certified electrician before i rewire anything.

I am married to a man who maintains the powergrid for the US, among the other things he does for the Dept of Energy. He can rewire in his sleep, I am safe. He can also show anyone how to rewire something that easy. He has helped lots of people on here in lots of things.

Laurie's husband David knows his stuff he helps me out with some of my more advanced projects. Really that man is a genious.!!!

David is so far beyond electrician it isn't funny. One of the reasons I married him is because he is the most intelligent person I have ever known. He just installed a 40 ft ham radio tower on the back of our house. He knew to have a base of 4 ft by 4ft of concrete poured and just how to set it to meet codes and be where no matter which way it could fall( and it will never fall) it will not touch either neighbor's home or any electrical wires. These are things he does for fun, along with designing and building rc planes and helo's. He is currently building a cnc (sp) machine so he can produce the parts he designs for his stuff. About all I know it is will have an x , y and z axis and it seems to be costing me a mint!!! Currently he is elk hunting, he has way to many hobbies. But he does take time to design and build things I want or need for my chams.
