Hey guys and girls,
My name is Ryan and I recently "Adopted" Ellie Maye, a 5 month old veil chameleon from a friend who cannot bring her with him when he moves. So i told him I would take her in...my house is pretty much a wildlife preserve for my friends animals that they cannot handle. Our newest addition Ellie maye came to use very skiddish and in a glass 10 gallon which she looks way too big for. I have purchased a full screen cage that is the usual female veil chameleon sized 24x24x48, since adopting her she has warmed right up to roaming across the vines we have in our living room and dropping down onto my arms while we are just sitting around. I was just curious if anyone has some suggestions as to keeping her happy and well equipped for the duration of her life as she is a permanent member of the family. and any pictures of females when they are older and any habitat images you have would be great
thanks,
Ryan

Welcome to the forums and congrats on your new addition Ellie. She is a little doll! I just love female veileds and use to have one named Elly and now have one named Sadie. I have a couple of blog that you might find helpful attached below. The first one is for general care and the second is about egg laying and the laying bin. Female can and often do lay eggs without a male even being around and your Ellie is at the age that you need to provide her with a laying bin. Let me know if you have any other questions that my blogs don't answer. Jann

Wonderful job you've done with getting the right enclosure sussed! Where are you at as far as lighting, humidity, food, gutloads and supplements?

I have been using powdered feeding crickets, thats what he was feeding her before hand but i would like to make sure she is getting a proper diet...what is my best way of doing this...ive ebeen reading nonstop since i picked her up on saturday...whats the best route to get her everything she needs

So glad that you got her out of that tank! I cannot understand people that think a chameleon would be living a happy life in one of those! Well, she must think she died and went to heaven..!! Welcome to the forums and chameleon ownership. You will get all your questions answered here and then some! Lots of great people on here and we all share our love for these animals.

I was gonna tell you to find JannB and read everything she has on raising little girs. But, she beat me to it! She is one of the the pros!
