Compact UVB?

I was wondering about that as well. I'm getting ready to purchase a new panther after a few years break from chameleons and never saw these compact bulbs before. Does anyone have an opinion on them?

The CFL reptisuns used to cause eye problems due to a manufacturing problem that caused them to emit too much UVB. This problem has been fixed for the newer bulbs but old ones are still floating around. The CFL reptiglos did not have these problems reported. There is still a risk of causing eye problems due to the different characteristics of how the bulbs work compared to linear bulbs. Linear bulbs have never had problems reported, so they are the safest option and preferred by a lot of people on the forums. But the reptiglo CFLs are next best.

Eye problems associated with bulb issues to watch for are keeping eyes closed (one or both) and seeming to nap during the day. If the bulb causing the problems is removed in quickly after seeing these signs the chams usually go back to normal within a few days, although permanent damage can occur.

I have never had a problem with the reptiglo CFLs but my cham immediately starting having problems when I tried to use a regular household CFL for his basking light (quick fix until I could get a regular bulb). Once I removed it he was fine.
