Color.

I was just wondering if this was normal. My chameleon is 2 months old and he likes to chill out on the vine that I have in his terrarium alot. It seems that everytime he gets on the vine he changes his color to brown. I know that when they change to darker colors they are usually stressed but it's only when he gets on the vine. It's like he's trying to blend in. Is that all it is?

when they bask sometimes they get a little darker on the side that faces the light. are you sure basking tems are right for your guy?

Yes under the basking light its 85-90 degrees. Anywhere else it's around 75 or lower. He is dark on both sides when he's on the vine.

Chameleons do not actually change their colors to blend in, at least not for that reason alone.
More than likely he is getting darker to warm himself.
What are your temps?
And my male veiled was regularly brown throughout the day when he was that age, to get warm, or just cuz he could.
At night, he turned back to pale green when he was asleep.
