I think this suggests some interesting ramifications for chameleons & other reptiles in captivity.

I have previously complained about the max. size of adult bearded dragons 'shrinking' from 24" to 18". I had thought that this was due to decades of in- and cross-breeding (which is likely still a factor) but now I'm wondering if decades of keeping them in too small enclosures (20-40 gal aquariums) might have caused a similar rapid evolution to smaller sizes to better adapt to these woefully undersized enclosures.

Now I'm wondering if our chameleons may be able to better adapt to living in human temperatures and humidities than previously thought. Evidence of this is several species' abilities to adapt and thrive as invasive species in places like Hawaii, California, and Florida.
