Coconut husk stuck in eye, how do I help get it out!

My baby veiled chameleon recently just got a piece of coconut husk stuck in his right eye. I can literally see it sticking out of his eye. I just can't get close enough to him, and I don't just want to pull it out so I don't stress him out and/or cause damage. I'm not sure if this has happened do anyone else but if anyone had some pointers it would be GREATLY appreciated!!

Do two things, first mist him for at least 10 minutes, second get some human eye wash with no preservative, very gently drip it in the eye where the fibers are. Let me know if you get it out ok. Good luck. If that doesn't do the trick, then call a vet ASAP.

yeah, as laurie says, a prolonged misting should encourage him to clean his own eyes and you may be able to flush it out..

doesnt look much fun

Yes, I'm using the coconut as a substrate, I try to keep it fairly most as I can! I also have a bit of moss covering over top. I tried the misting and he did eventually get the piece out, but it ended up getting very swollen so I took him to the vet and got him drops! He's perfectly fine now! Thanks guys for all your help!! =)
