Closing one eye

Hey! I have a veiled male chameleon who is about 1 year and 1-2months old. I have had him since he was 5months old and everything has been fine until now. Well he is active and climbs around and freeroams too, we usually open his cage door and he has a rope that comes out of it so he can come out if he wants to. And he is suprisingly “friendly” chameleon, climbs on me a lot and has only 2 times hissed at me. But the problem is that his left eye is full closed or half closed, he also tries really hard to scratch that eye against a branch or even my hand and clean it (bubbles the eye a lot). I’ve tried to give him a shower and misted more than usually because I read that this might be a dehydration problem, but it hasn’t seem to gone better for like 3-4 days now. He just shed about a week ago and then after shedding it started, I’ve tried to look if he has some shed stuck in his eye but I can’t see any. Has anyone any idea what this could be? Otherwise he is acting normal, eating, climbing, chilling, poop looks normal.
 
Could you list what plants you have? Some have irritating sap, and well a shedding cham is going to rub the shed off...
Or possibly something else "sharp" he rubbed it on such as fiberglass or other rough items.

From past experience, human eye drops(non medicated) and just keeping the eye open with drops a few times a day for a few days fixes the problem, if its not infected. If the eye is sealed or partially sealed(crusty etc) its not going to drain or clear out the stuff thats causing it to seal. Misting isnt going to help, because its back to dry in a few minutes.


This method has worked great for several reptiles, and even a few hamsters :)
But like i said, this is if the eye is not infected.
 
I have 2 yuccas and some kind of other thing with very big leaves, I’m not sure what it is, but the breeder I bought him from gave me this plant
 
Can you post a pic of him? Try to include some of both the eye that is closed and his other eye for reference. Also pics of his enclosure would be helpful.
 
My mom is cleaning the cage right now so I will add a picture of that later

That doesnt look like an eye or shed problem...

That looks like something is affecting the kidneys. What is your supplement sched? You maybe be over supplementing now that he is an adult.

calcium without d3 every other day, with d3 twice a month and multivitamins 1-2 a month
 
Is there D3 in your multi vitamin?

This is not my typical scratched/stuckshed/irritated. Both eyes are sunken in from a "cause", its just the "bad" one is sunked to the point its starting to fail to open.

If you have the ability, i would buy some caterpillars such as horn or silk, just to get him hydrated.

But at this point the internet folk are not going to be able to help you. They are just going to say spend the $50-75 and take him to the vet for a checkup. The only thing that is apparent is its not an over dose of vit A and there is no signs of edema.

Okay thank you, I will buy some and try to get a vet appointment. I live in Estonia and because of the corona virus I’m not sure if I can get him to the vet fast enough though because everything is closed here :/

The situation doesnt look desperate, but you really need to get them eyes unsunken with some hydration. For all we know that is the only problem. And a caterpillar is basically a bag of water with a calcium shell, so a few will cause so much hydration that the white urate will actually get runny.
 
Hey, I took him to the vet last week and he did an x-ray, told everything looks okay from what he sees from the x-ray. He gave some eyedrops for the eyes. I gave him the eyedrops for 3 days but he stopped eating and started sleeping a lot during day. So I took him back to the vet and he gave some medicine named Ringer, told me to give him that everyday to get his appetite back. I’ve been giving him Ringer now for 4 days but it’s gone really bad now. He doesn’t move at all, sleeps basically all the time, he wont eat and also his back legs seem paralyzed? He can’t move them well and when he is on a branch or something he keeps his leg hanging.. :( My vet clinic now closed because of the corona virus and I don’t know what to do..
 
When you say you gave him the eye drops....you mean you put them in his eye...right?

Please post some photos of what he looks like today from both sides and so I can see the whole chameleon in he photos please.
 
Is there any vitamin preformed A in the vitamin powder? Look for words like retinol, retinyl, retinal. If it says beta carotene its ok...I just want to know about the ones that are preformed.
