my cham just recently started climbing the cage screen.
he's now figured out how to get all the way to the bottom of the cage.
is there any problems that cage climbing might pose?

My chams climb all over the cage. Just be careful if you ever decide to handle your Cham and it is holding on to the cage, not to pull. You might pull their claws out. Also, if it is climbing the ceiling of the cage, make sure you have a not too strong of a basking bulb so it doesn't get burned.
