Climbing issues

My cham is a little over a year old and his nails are too dull to climb the screen of the enclosure he's got and he's too stubborn to use the easy way up sometimes. What are some suggested ways to make it climbable? I have tried gardening fence in the past, but I feel as if it makes the enclosure very claustrophobic. Maybe attaching spaced out rows of branches on each side? Thanks

I bought quite a few Exo terra vines, the small version, and then twisted and linked them all together to create a nice long twisted vine. Then spiral the vine from the bottom of the enclosure up to his basking spot attached to the sides by twisting ties. Somewhat like a spiral staircase but moving more across the enclosure. My chameleon either decides to follow the vine all the way up or skip to different levels of the vine using the umbrella plant shortcut which goes through the middle. He also climbs the enclosure screen but i'm not a fan of this as i'm worried one of his nails could get stuck and he falls and tears it off. Hence the jungle vine staircase

Smaller diameter branches will help. He'll be able to wrap more of his toe around the branches and not rely as much on his claws.
