clear mucous

I have a female veiled cham. She was drinking from a spray bottle today (I was spraying the plants and she likes to drink from the nozzle sometimes), and, all of a sudden, a good amount of clear mucous came out of her mouth. Has anyone ever seen this?? or know what it is?? I looked everywhere online and can't find anything.

Howdy Marisa,

It is likely that she just took-in too much water. When it comes back out it often has mucus with it. Just keep an eye on her for any odd behavior. There is a possibility that she aspirated it and it came back out of her lungs but it isn't likely.

thank you. it seems like that it is probably what happened. i was just worried because i've never seen that happen before, but i will definitely keep a close eye on her.

thank you for this info had the same prob and couldn't find any thing else online to came down this morning and to my surprie that one of my veiled chams had laid an egg but it had left her very dehyrated so i used a syringe to drop some water over her mouth she drank quite alot then came the mucus but thanx to you the wife is no longer in tears thinking that we was about to lose the cham THANX

I wish I had more time but I'm dashing out the door for work early this morning, so just some quick notes that others can fill-in ...

1.) Laying one egg means that your Veiled has 20-80 more eggs still to be laid.

2.) I'm guessing that you saw a symptom that led you to believe that she was dehydrated, like sunken eyes. It is more likely that she has sunken eyes do to the distress of having retained eggs.

You are not out of the woods yet . You might want to start a fresh thread for your situation. Good luck.
