i was wondering what mantis ooth i should get. i plan on raising them and letting them grow to a big enough size to feed to my 6 month old nosy be i was wondering if theres a difference in nutrition and growth speed overall size etc thank you for your time

you could get whatever you want both are still gonna have a few hundred babies Chinese are nice and get get pretty big

Chinese ooths can have up to 3-4 times as many babies hatch from them. They also get larger than the carolina ooths and tend to be cheaper than the carolinas. It's up to you though.

I can tell you one thing, they're a pain in the arse to raise! Many, 100's of die-offs! You can feed them, separate them, whatever...they still have mass die-offs! Uggghhhh. :(

I found Chinese mantids really easy to raise. You have to feed them a lot to prevent cannibalism and separate them when you have enough cages to do so once they get bigger so they don't eat too many of each other. I just saved a bunch of plastic containers from snack packs or food jars and then rubber banded screen over the top, so caging was cheap and easy. But my chams loved them and I had several generations with minimal effort.

Must be nice! I've all but given up after two dreadful experiences... :(

Both these species work great. My peacock hatchlings like the newly hatched mantis nymphs, and my parsons love the adults.
