Chewing on sticks!!

My Nosy Be has a novel way of telling me he's hungry, he chews on a knob on one of his sticks.
Like a dog, chewing a bone!!
He chews it and eats the tiny pieces of bark!!

This tells me for sure it's feeding time :p

Does anyone else have a cham that does something like this?

I wonder if I should try offering him a piece of kale!!??

I would remove the piece he is chewing on if he is getting chunks of it off. It may cause digestion problems for him. My one panther Romeo used to try and bite off the tail of this plastic toucan I had hanging in my patio. He never bit any off though. I have no idea why he chose to chew on that!!!

Thanks for that suggestion. I just cut that knob off and made it nice and smooth.
Sorry Smidget, no more stick chewing ;)

He wasn't really getting much of anything to swallow to worry about impaction. Just a few very small crumbs :)

I just fed him a 4th silkie, they are BIG! so I know he has to be full :)

My other guyz were watching me like, where's my silkie!!?? So everybody got a nice big juicy silkie for breakfast, ummmmmmmm :)

My Panther does the exact same thing, Psycho! You're definitely not alone.

Whenever he is hungry.. he will walk to this particular vine, and bite it. It's like he's frustrated, and telling me he's ready to eat. I think it became a habit for him when he noticed I would feed him if I caught him doing it.

That's the reason why I only use the Exo Terra vines. They are extremely sturdy, and he can't tear anything off of it. I'm always cautious about what goes in his cage. Luckily he doesn't try to eat leaves or soil.

Just make sure he can't ingest anything he might chew on. If you notice he does it at certain times of the day, try to feed him earlier than that. Loki had nose rub a while back, and taking his frustration out on the branches didn't help. It's taken much longer to heal because of his habit. I just find ways to avoid the situation, and make sure his health won't suffer if he does bite the branches.
