chewing habit

I've got a quick question.. my 7 month old male veiled has two potted plants both covered with river stone around the dirt cause he likes to eat dirt.. he still.tries though and seemingly chewed on the rocks.. or slowly (doesnt attack) bites them.. is this tramendously bad for his teeth? Any prevention for such? He only does it at the lower plant. which i assume is because he was able to get dirt from it more recently. When I see a lil black on his lips i pile on the rocks.. he's a determined little guy.

I would put large rocks down, huge rocks, like fist sized rocks, then get some mesh, cut a hole in it, and cover the rocks with mesh, around the base of the plant.

I will have to give that a shot. Its a dracanea so easy to cover.the base. My pothos. Which isn't bushy anymore just hangs everywhere will he harder.. but he doesn't do it there.. pain in the butt lol :)

In past posts people have mentioned that eating dirt is an indication of something missing in their diet. I don't own a veiled but maybe he is looking for additional nutrients?

Have you fed your veiled any veggies or fruit? He may be having a craving!!! :p

I do feed him romaine and occasionally strawberries kale little squash p
PHP:
eices and we are in process of getting him onto dubias from crickets and hes not complying as well as id hoped though they are disappearing.. but while I'm switching him this last week I have held off on horns silks and supers and crickets so that would he an explanation. But he used to eat a lot of dirt. He's since stopped doin it to a dangerous level. Once he's hooked on the dubias (if it ever happens) ill induce his normal diet and see if the chewing stops.

My chams are picky about dubias, they only want them every few days ><

Apparently my female prefers crickets and my male is a superworm nut... My female ate a full grown adult male dubia the other day though which was awesome to watch!!! They had only taken nymphs before so imagine my surprise when she grabbed the biggest dubia in the feeding cup I presented... Lol shes a greedy little lady.

Haha. I found my guy isn't a huge cup guy. I stick the dubias to the screen and they run up to the top corners and he gets em from there most the time
