Chams outdoors during storms???

Hello all, I am in the process of working on some outdoor caging for my four panthers.....but I am a bit concerned about them outside since I live in Missouri and have some crazy storms that roll thru. I would like to make the enclosure permanent so I can't just roll them inside when a storm comes thru.

So I guess me question is, how much rain and wind can the chams handle, Nd what do you all do with your outdoor chams???

Thanks in advance,

Jeffrey

Ive had my chams out in high winds. I did have my first mishap with cages blowing over this year:eek: I would secure the cages and make sure the plant pots or anything else heavy cannot blow around. If everything is secure I dont see it being a problem with higher winds. Make sure the enclosures are well planted. Mine just go to the other side of the branch that the wind is blowing at and deep inside a plant.

Mine are out all summer in the storms every year. We sometimes get really high winds have been within 10 miles of a tornado here before- had a horrific storm last year where rain was blowing sideways. We had just arrived home when it hit- we sat in the van and watched the lizard cages during the storm. The winds took down an old pine tree which I had to chainsaw later to clear the driveway. They also literally destroyed the rain tarps over my bearded dragon cages. The lizards were fine but I had to spend a couple of days cleaning out the cages and replacing the substrate and replacing the tarps for future rain. Ripped the tarps along the seams and pulled the rivets out of the tarps. All my enclosures are on rustic tables and are tied down to the tables. The dragons have big tarps that are raised over them during rainy weather to keep their enclosures dry. The chameleon cages have screen sides and bottoms, and their tables are only 2x4 frames, no table top. The frames are made so crosspieces like a ladder holds the pots in the cages. Anyway, the wind just blows right through these cages and doesn't move them. The chameleons always weather it out just fine, though of course the storm I am describing is far and away the exception, not the norm. We only get a couple of storms like that in a summer...
