Hello, I currently have an adolescent sambava panther. He is in a 16.5x30x28 enclosure on a stand so that the top of the enclosure is about 6.5 or so feet high. I live in a 1 bedroom and it is in my living room. My gf is planning on moving in with her two cats. Are the cats going to pose a significant stress risk for my cham? Please let me know. thanks, af

When i had a cat i found the cat didnt notice the chameleon but the chameleon DID notice the cat and it stressed him out I am certain. I would move the chameleon into the bedroom and keep the cats OUT of the bedroom if I were you. (Thats what I did)
However others have said that if you keep the chameleon up high enough, with enough plants to hide in, it will still feel secure. Frankly, my cat liked to jump up to the highest spot and look down on her human slaves - which would have included the top of the chameleon cage had it been permitted.
That or maybe the two of you should move to a two bedroom, and use the extra bedroom for chameleons.

I have noticed the exact same. Our cat couldn't care less about the chameleons, but the chams do not like him at all.

one of my neighbor has the nastiest and the fattest cat named Nola.
She is a fighter. She scratches my housemate's dog (a shar pei) and always manage to win the fight.
Since she is the queen of the neighborhood, sometimes she can be found sleeping in my backyard
.
My veiled hate her so much. She doesn't care; but, Paul always jump off the tree and turn extreme black.
That is why I always have to guard the backyard when Paul and my other chams sunning outside.
I am more of a dog person.
But, cats are the only animal that kill for fun.
They will play with their victim for hours and hours.
So, moral of the story, keep them away from your chameleon.
The cat might decided to "play" with your chameleon.
Even when the cat doesn't care, the cham might be stressed out.
