Chameleons together ?

Hi,
I was just wondering as i remember reading up ages ago, that you cant keep chameleons together over 6 - 8 Months old...
Is this true or not ?, As i wanted to make sure.

Some need to be seperated a lot sooner. Depends on a lot of factors.

I have been offered a male and a female, So i was just wondering if i could acctually just keep them together as a pair ?
