I was talking to my vet about the Panther who seems to have a URI. In telling him the days on Baytril he told me that pounding the animal with daily antibotics is not a good idea as research has found that reptiles recirculate antibotics.
This vet is one of the top herp vets in So Cal. He and Dr. Greek. Dr. Stein has written passages in the reference books regarding dosages and medicines.
What I like about him is he's always learning and researching. I mentioned taking a culture and he went into the description of sticking a tube down the chameleon's throat, putting in saline and still can't be sure of the results. Plus he said the chameleons tend not to like it. I mentioned a vet I went to before I found him just did a swab. He said that's a total waste of time unless there is something wrong in the mouth.
My guy made a sudden improvement today. If he shows any reoccurring symptoms I'll take him in tomorrow.
