Chameleons & MVB

First off I know there has been much controversy over these bulbs. Some say they are great and some say beware. I am not trying to start another debate over the issue I just want to check what people think about the application I will be using them in and give me your opinion.

I have 2 male veileds that are each in a 175 gal. Flexarium. I've been thinking of getting an Exo Terra Solar Glo 125W for each of these enclosures. From my understanding as long as you place the bulb the proper distance away from the enclosure there shouldn't be any problems. Also taking into consideration that the black mesh will filter out some of the rays. Another alternative may be to just have standard incandescent bulbs on for most of the day and allow the MVB bulbs to turn on for several hours mid-day.

I don't think that my chams are getting sufficient UVB with the setup that I have now so I thought this may be the solution. Please let me know of any thoughts or suggestions that you have!

So what .... is everybody out partying tonight?? LOL

If you don't want to post your opinion you can alway PM me. If I don't hear any responses I'll probably just get a couple of these bulbs and see how it goes!

I have one UVB tube over both enclosures. Both are in front of windows that get some direct sunlight throughout the day however I don't think that much of the UVB gets through the window glass. I don't believe that the bulb size is easy to find by today's standards. It was a bulb and fixture that I got when I purchased one of my chams from somebody else.

So in trying to upgrade my options are to get two new ballasts and UVB bulbs or get 2 MVB bulbs for the heat lamps that I'm using. I currently have a Repti-Sun heat bulb in one heat lamp but the other is just a 60 or 100 W incandescent bulb.

Mind you I was thinking that in the summer they would get enough heat through the window so perhaps the ballast/UVB option is the way to go. But then I'd have to supplement heat in the winter. ( I'm in CANADA .... EH ?? LOL )

So that's when I started thinking of just having the MVB bulbs on for a few hours mid-day for the UVA/UVB requirements and perhaps longer in the winter.

Just trying to figure out what my best option is here!!

Thanks .. Dyesub Dave. :D
