Chameleon with eye problem

We once again are heading to the vet on Monday. My Veild just went through a shed and appears to have possibly injured his eye. They look clear and he uses both of them however I one has a clear discharge and he doesn't appear to be able to close the outside part of it. He is able to move the eye around he just doesn't close it like the other one. Any one had this happen before.

Sounds like an infection. Possible an irritation from something in his eye or a scratched eye. Vet sounds like your best bet.

He may have gotten something in his eye, like a piece of shed skin and the clear discharge is often a sign of an infection.

It's good that he has a vet visit scheduled because eyes are so important for chams.
Until his vet visit, saline rinses can help to flush out the irritating debris and sometimes clear up a minor infection.

You want to gently squirt the saline solution into the eye and fill it up so the lid puffs out temporarily.
I've used these for eye rinses http://m.cvs.com/mt/www.cvs.com/shop...jtt_v_menu=exp
AND have also used this one by Bausch and Lomb
This Bausch and Lomb solution is made with the same ingredients called Sensitive Eyes Plus http://m.cvs.com/mt/www.cvs.com/search/_/N-0?pt=global&searchTerm=Sensitive+Eyes+Plus&un_form_encoding=utf-8&un_jtt_searchCVS.x=19&un_jtt_searchCVS.y=10

Typically eye infections are treated both with drops and an oral antibiotic.

This happened right after he shed, I think he injured it rubbing his shed off. The eye itself looks good and he is acting great! It is very itchy to him, rubs it on my finger. Scared he is going to injure it before his appointment on Monday.

That's the reason I suggested the saline rinses. They will help the irritation, can stave off infection, keep the eye lubricated and may help your cham get any debris out from beneath the lid.

Thank you. On my way to get saline. I can actually see a little piece of retained shed around his eye lid. Just set a picture to my vet, we will see what he has to say.

You're welcome. I'm glad to be able to help.

Your cham will be a little more comfortable afterwards, even though he won't like having something squirted in his eye. You can do it a few times throughout the day.
The idea is to gently squirt saline at angle to fill behind the lid, so it puffs out a bit, temporarily.

Please let us know what the vet finds and how he treats it.

called the vet and he want to me to try triple antibiotic eye ointment ( I used to work for him so he didn't feel he needed to see him) put the meds in and he was bale to close his eye blinked a few times. I then looked and he had a foreign body in his eye. When he was rubbing his shed off on the rope vine in his cage a piece flaked off and went in his eye. I used a q-tip to remove and since he has been fine. :D
