Chameleon wiggling while sleeping!!!

Hi guys. First time poster. I'm concerned about my veiled chameleon. I've had him for four months. He eats gutloaded crickets and mealworms. about a month and a half ago i took him to the vet who said he had mbd, he started falling off branches and spending more time on the ground. after six weeks worth of calcium injections and putting him in direct sunlight more often though, now he's acting strange. The last few nights he seems to move around a lot while sleeping, (I don't know if he dreams but it looks like he's having nightmares) tonight in particular his tongue was hanging out while sleeping and wiggling. That and he refused to drink water today. I intend to take him to the vet monday when its opened. Any experienced breeders know whats going on? A book said it could be amoebas since he closes his eyes a lot during the day and seems more apathetic.

I encourage you to make that vet appointment.

Your enclosure is probably too small for a veiled adult. Most keep them in cages at least 4 feet talll.

It sounds like your enclosure is not really well established for a chameleon. I would recommend a bigger enclosure and some live plants.

Why did you say "no babies" in your history when this is a male? Or is it a female?

Do you dust at all? You should be dusting with Calcium no D3 every feeding, calcium with d3 twice a month and vitamins twice a month.

The flukers is a terrible gutload, although not the pressing case.

I would agree with Elizadolots, definitely need a vet visit and then some adjustments to your husbandry.

Hello and welcome to the forum :) Chams do sometimes move in their sleep 'dreaming' (usually with lots of eye-twitching). You do need a uvb light and proper supplements along with better gutloading. Here's a great basic caresheet for Veileds that I recommend to all new people here - https://www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/chameleonsinmyhouse/395-veiled-chameleon-care-sheet.html

Here's a great thread to give you ideas for his enclosure - https://www.chameleonforums.com/post-your-cage-pictures-94781/

Thanks
