Chameleon was scratched

New poster but have been lurking for a while.

Tonight one of the kids did not lock the cage after spraying and one of the cats looks to have messed with my 4 month old veiled male. He has a few dark almost small scratches, but he seemed ok once we put him back in his cage. His hood has a little scratch along with the tip of his nose and a few on his side(not deep scratches, hard to tell if the skin is even broke, but the areas are darker than his normal color).

Is there an antibiotic to put on the small scratches, or just let him heal? He seems ok otherwise.

keep a close eye, maybe even a vet visit, cats claws are crawling with bacteria, and you could very easily have a serious situation.
sorry, not to freak you out and Welcome to the forum

Let the child who left the cage open put neosporin on the cham, and encourage the child to keep tabs also on the cham. Of course you will keep an eye also.

Hi, welcome.

How sure are you the cat got to the chameleon?

I ask because long ago, when I was stupid and listening to the wrong people, I put a brand new female in to live with a male. Later I saw what I thought were huge gashes on her sides. I thought he must have practically destroyed her trying to get to her.

The next day I found she was just starting a spectacular shed.

Of course, my story ultimately didn't end well. I know yours is going to be much better than mine.

Edited to add: I just read something scary.

If we get bitten by a cat it's straight to the nearest emergency clinic immediately for antibiotics! There is no delay, you are immediately dismissed from work to do that because the infection is so fast and can be so bad. Kind of scary when you think about it! Good to remember if your cham ever gets nipped by your cat on accident...it's not as severe in reptiles, but they should still get on antibiotics.

If there's any chance that biting could have happened....it looks like a vet appointment might be in order.
