my cham also sits in the corner often because its the closest corner to the window full of plants, the highest point in my cage is nearest to the basking lamp, but the whole top of her cage is pretty even. i could only assume she is dreaming of comming out because if i ever open the cage she jumps out to get in the window

Panthers are known to lick branches as a way of smelling/identifying their terroritory, mine does it all the time. If you are leaving the blinds open, he probably sees a tree that is swaying and wants to go to it. My melleri did the same thing when I left the blinds opened and would nose rub. I know you have good intentions and want the cham to see the outside world, but if it is stressing him out by wanting to "go there" it would be best to not show him the outside. I would move his cage to a corner of the room and set up an exercise area in front of the window. That way during the day he will spend his time basking and absorbing the UVB and in the evening you could let him out to climb around.

Most lizards use their tounge to check the temp as well.

ive got 2 vines in my guys cage. theyre strung corner to opposite corner. they sag over top of the benji. thats his hotspot. wen he wans to get outta the heat, he can move to the top corner or down the vines. its been working well because he has no need to climb on the cage for height or hunting. the sugestion of getting the cage a bit above your head will prlly help too. im obviously no expert but this new setup i made for my male seemed to help with a similar problem. hope this helps. takecare.

I'm not sure if the tongue is forked, but it doesn't look round... At all.

sidenote: I asked my Latin teacher what furcifer meant in Latin and we looked it up. It refered to someone who was forced to carry some type or forked device that was relatable/similar to being put in the stocks... Or something like that... it was a while ago

Their tongues are forked....not as much as a snake but if you do observe them tasting a vine or branch you can definitely see it.

My cham loves to come out of his cage to! He just crawls out with his little head and waits for me to scoop him up lol....
