Question.

What is the ideal Chameleon body temperature? I’ve been looking online and I can’t seem to find any information on this. I have an infrared thermometer and I was just curious as to what the body temperature of a perfectly healthy chameleon is.

Since chameleons are cold-blooded, I don't think this questions really makes sense. They cannot thermoregulate their internal body temperature the same way mammals do, so if I'm not mistaken, it will vary based on the temperature of their surroundings

Different species need to reach different temperatures for their metabolic needs. They use the temperature gradients in their surroundings to reach these temperatures. The care sheets in the resource section of this site name the ranges that a few common species require.

Depends on the temp where he's sitting at the time. When asleep in a cool dark cage it won't be much above the temp in the room. After basking for a while under a lamp in the morning, it could be closer to 80-85 F. As soon as the cham moves out of the heat, it will change again.
