Chameleon Sleeping in the day and no poop!

Hi,

I have had all sorts of problems since getting my baby veiled chameleon a week ago. Firstly because I was sold a mesh vivarium and told these are better I have spent all week trying to get the temp up. At first it was 22c, then I got a bigger heat lamp which put it up to 24c, then I made a cover to keep the heat in which put it up to 25c, then I put in a ceramic heat lamp as well which took it up to about 26.5 and so now I have boarded up the back and sides with clear acrylic which has now brought the heat right up to about 30c but this has taken all week.

My chameleon though has not been eating much (about 3 locusts all week) spends a lot of time with her eyes closed and tail curled up like she is asleep and I don't think she has pooped once in 6 days since I got her.

Do you think these problems are all heat related and will they now get better or could it be something else?

Thanks.

This is her today....

Hi there and welcome to the forum!
I am sorry to hear your "bad"beginning! First of all, screen cages are good, especially for veiled! They need more ventilation.
I have a screen cage for my 4-5 month old veiled. I covered the two sides and the back too! It definitely helps.
Where do you measure the temp? One should be right by the cham's basking spot and the other one somewhere else, so you know how much is it approx. in the cage and how much where she's basking.
If you could post picture about the enclosure it would help too.
Sleeping during the day is never good...:(
Do you have a good reptile vet? Vet check is ASAP!
