my chameleon is a baby and my chameleon has been shedding for the past 4 days. but i also noticed hes been sleeping during the day a lot under the the light...when i come look at him, he opens his eyes briefly but goes right back to sleep. sometimes he even walks with one eye open and the other closed. i know sleeping during the day is not normal. he gapes his mouth sometimes but no weezing or anything like that. his eyes nose and mouth seem clean with no crust or mucus.the bulbs i use are UV bulb (5.0) and heat bulb (50 watt). he is housed in a 16 x 16 x 20 reptibreeze cage. he doesn't eat or drink since he started shedding but thats probably normal. he was normal for the month that i had him until he started shedding. don't know if i'm just worrying to much but just in case. any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you

Hey,

Welcome to the forum. Babies don't usually take 4days to shed, more like a day or two tops. Can you fill out the how to ask for help forum, that's in the health clinic topic.

Thank you.

Hi!

Would it be possible to post pictures? Sleeping during the day is a problem. Even when shedding they shouldn't do that.

From what i see, everything seems ok, except for:

At 3 months he should eating at least 1/4 crickets. Pinheads are to small for him.
Also you need a multivitamin, to dust with 2x a month. The repocal you have contains D3 which you should be also be using twice a month. You need regular calcium without D3 to dust with for every day feeding.

here is a pic of him

Your cham looks good. Doesn't seem unhealthy.

Herptivite is what people usually use as a multivitamin

The calcium without D3 can be any brand.

You should be able to purchase them locally at a petstore such as Petco/Petsmart.

i'll be sure to update you guys on my chameleon and hows he's doing. he's still molting and isn't eating so idk how to give him the vitamins.

Up the humidity with a couple of extra misting sessions, it will help him out with finishing his shed. Don't spray him directly though. It will prolong the shedding process.
