Chameleon/Reptile Outreach at shows

Inspired by ChameO and the SBCK booth at the California shows, I am thoroughly interested in doing a chameleon information booth, along with a "which reptile is right for me" themed booth at the Florida shows. I am fine with volunteering my time, and am hoping I could get some sponsors to cover booth fees, etc. I have access to video presentation equipment, and would demonstrate some proper cage setups for chameleons as well as some of the best starter reptiles out there. Any Florida locals want to help out?

Good for you, Juli! I would help out, but that's a pretty far commute.

I find that I spend most of my time at shows doling out this very information. People see my chams and they want more information. I generally keep plenty of care sheets on hand and plenty of pictures (both digital and in a little book) to show people the differences and to point out what I'm talking about. Yes, there have been times when people will take my information (and lots of time spent) and go buy there cham from someone else, but I would rather start them in the right direction because I know that the other people in this are that carry chams (but don't breed them) tend to give the wrong information/advice.

Good for you - even though I can't help (and when I am at shows in Florida, I'm already kind of busy hocking my own stuff....), I think this is definitely a great idea.

I am pretty excited about doing this. I honestly enjoy going to the shows and talking to people. The one thing that always seems to be lacking are entire set ups to show people exactly what they need/are getting into. How people display animals at the shows is not represntative of what people need to do at home. I think this would be a great advertising opportunity for someone, as I am really looking to get someone to sponsor for booth fees or donate display equipment. So again-I am basically volunteering my time to point people in the direction of getting good healthy animals and great supplies! Sponsor HINT! Alot of times you see people hesitant about asking questions when the show vendors are really busy and don't have time to talk to people about care and setups. I am always the person at the booths saying-"Hey-do you have any questions?" And I am happy to spend the time to talk to them.
