chameleon on the loose!!!

haha! i was going to take my chameleon dynamite outside this afternoon and i opened the door to his cage. i went in the living room for a minute and when i was going back into my room i heard a little *THUMP* on my bedroom floor. i looked and i saw a little green tail sprinting under my bed!
luckily i got him just in time though! had to tell!

i hope hes ok after the fall out of his cage tough....:confused::eek::eek::D
i think hes fine cuz hes walking/ running fine:D

also, my cham always turns his really happy green colors when he goes outside. :) no matter what kind of mood he is in before :D

Every story like this always consists of the owner leaving for a short amount of time and coming back to find their chameleon in a different spot, or not at all.

There is a recurring theme, you know.

is that a good thing or bad thing:eek::D

chameleons aren't dumb, when they see the 'preditor' is gone, they book it. It is pure instinct, unless they are very familiar with you.

And remember they are opportunistic. So if they see food, they snatch it, if they see an exit, they take it....

you are right. they are smart. i think they are some of the smartest reptiles in my opinion.

I almost coulda had a missing cham myself yesterday! i let mine free range on my big screend in patio. I have thick ropes draped at the top and hung all around to give it like a nautical/tiki theme and he walks back and forth on the ropes and loves it!. Well yesterday I was working in the yard and as I was coming in the door I kicked off my sandals. I looked up and noticed he was about 2 feet from the door. Well one of my sandals got wedged where the door closed which let about a 4 inch opening where the door was open! I came right back out with a glass of water to drink and there was my cham about two inches from the opening! I freaked! I bet had I not went right in and out he woulda been gone! I am so paranoid now I am hooking the door, not like I think he could pop the hook open! They are smart but not that smart!!! You gotta be soooo careful!
