Chameleon on the ground?

Hello,

I have some questions on my Chameleon's behavior. She is a three year old Veiled, and has been acting lethargic. Her colors are green and lime green.
She also does not have any signs of unfertilized eggs. In the past she laid unfertilized eggs. I don't know if she is going through a hibernation stage or if they go into that type of stage.

She has a:
-2' tall screen terrarium
- 50 watt basking bulb (I use 50 watt because in the past a 75 watt bulb I was using went over 115 degrees)
- ZooMed 5.0 florescent tube bulb
-one branch
-artificial vines
-a plant with foliage (when I purchased the plant it did not have the name labeled on it but, it looks a lot like a hosta)

I mist her terrarium three times a day. She eats crickets every other day. I coat the crickets in vitamin d3 three times a week. To prevent any impaction I use feeding tongs to feed her.

If anyone can please respond back on what can be possibly happening with her I would very appreciate your help. Thank you

Hi, I think she should be in a taller home as she's fully grown. A laying bin needs to be provided too.
Most recommend dusting with calcium only every feeding, calcium with d3 twice a month and multi vit twice a month.
Check the care sheets for more info and I'm sure someone will be able to help bit more soon.
Kath.

Hello! Welcome to the forums! As stated, I'd get her a taller enclosure. I'd suggest at least 3 foot tall for a female veiled. As for her staying at the bottom, it is not due to any sort of hibernation (not with a veiled). Do you have any current pictures of her? It may help us see any obvious problems. Best of luck with her! Hope she is feeling better soon. :)

Thank you,

I have her in a 2' tall terrarium because, when I got her. I had her in a smaller terrarium which was 18 inches tall. When I got her a bigger terrarium as she got older for some reason she is only 10 1/2 inches from when I got her she was only an inch.

Later on today, I am going to petsmart to get some more crickets, and I will pick up the multi vitamin as well.

Thank you again for your help.:)

Here is a current picture of her. In this picture I found her up again but, in this picture as I took it she was starting to head back to the bottom IMG_20140120_174623.jpg

How long have you had her? She looks pretty small from that picture, but I don't see anything that looks wrong. Is she sleeping at the bottom or just hanging out?

She just seems to hang out on the bottom. I think she is starting to look around to lay unfertilized eggs for the future she did the same thing before.

I got her at a reptile expo back in 2011. She was only 1 month old. The following year she started to get MBD in her legs. In a matter of three days she recovered before it got worse. She is 10 1/2 inches but, I think its probably due to what happened to her with the MBD when she was young.

Thank you all again for your help.:)

Is it possible that the lower level is cooler? Or is she looking for more Humidity? What are your Temps???? And what is your humidity levels?????

My cham is also laying on the ground..actually on top of her dirt pan, where she is suppose to be laying her eggs...it's weird. I found her like that this morning and picked her up...put her up top by her lamp.
Not sure what's going on....
