chameleon on ground

hello,
my male panther chameleon (ambilobe) goes to the ground occasionally, when hes on the ground he's on all four legs and will sometimes go to the ground for five or six minutes then climbs back up. he does NOT lay on his side. is this normal? i feed every other day rep-cal calcium with d3, and once a week i will feed him herptivite or reptivite alternating between herptivite and reptivite with d3 every other week. i see him drink regularly and he doesnt really go on hunger strikes. his eyes are normal not sunken, skin looks good no breathing problems and sheds about once a month always sheds in one full day. legs look normal and he does some pretty creative acrobats when trying to hunt sometimes, so he looks healthy. but i always thought that only females went to the ground to lay. sometimes my male will go down to the ground to poop too. should i be worried?

Sometimes they will crawl to the bottom. As long as he is not laying there and is walking around it is ok. You NEED a plain calcium with NO d3. You are giving your chameleon too much d3 right now. Repcal contains a high concentration of it and it does not need to be given every other day. A couple of times a month and use the multi vitamin the same way. Use the plain calcium at every feeding.

thanks for the advice carol. i'll switch up my calcium with and without d3. and i appreciate your input on my chameleon going to the ground occasionally. he looks really healthy but i always worry and try to keep a good eye on him.

Yeah, as Carol said, they do it sometimes. Carol also covered the supplements. Its important that you change that up.

edit: Maybe you can upload a picture of your cham as a check up? :)
