im holding him now but i came home and he was sleeping on the ground. he is a one year old veiled. his back legs and tail are dark brown while his front half is bright green. his back legs are not working or, barely and he seems to have no feeling in them or his tail. i cant leave him on his vines or he will fall off. the ground is really cold since its been like 27 degrees outside. i think he might die.

IMG_9335.jpg he looks like this right now.

He may have fallen and broken his back. He was fine this morning or was there some sort of build up to this? Try and keep him warm... place him in a rubber made or something he can't climb out of, put a heat light near him, but not pointed at him. You want to keep him warm. Put a towel under him as well so he has something soft to lay on. Try to make him comfy.

Can you go to the sticky in the health forum and fill out the questions? I am curious what your husbandry is like that might have caused this... MBD, lack of heat.... just a bad fall for whatever reason...

he has been fine. ive never had a problem with him. he gets feed about ten crickets every other day or so. and i give him meal worms on top of that if he will take them which is on or off. his basking spot stays at about 87 and the rest of the cage in the mid is about 75 bottom is cold maybe 50. his cage is 5ft tall, 3ft back, and 4ft wide. i use flukers calcium with d3 once a week.

mealworms should only be used a treat they are hard to digest. 87 is a tad bit to high try bringing down to about in the lower 80s and the d3 should only be used twice a month. could we see a pic of his cage set up??

hmmm your cage looks good. the only things i can think of is him reaching for a branch or sleeping and fell and broke his back, or maybe its MBD and his grip is not that good so he couldnt grab the branch correctly and fell. does his front limbs look "broken" in the front i cant really tell in the first pic of him but his arm might look like a little like MBD but it could also be the way you are holding him.

his grip is really strong but it could be. can chams recover from a broken back? he is my first chameleon.

You mention part of the cage is 50*F? If so you really need to get him warmed up... it isn't gonna heal him, but it will help him. you shouldn't have him in a room that has an ambient temp of 50... They can take that kind of cold in the wild... sure, but doesn't mean you need to give it to him, and aren't you cold at 50*?

Fill this out.... https://www.chameleonforums.com/how-ask-help-66/ It will help people help you.

And yes, a vet is in order...
