Chameleon may have edema? pics

Hi, I think my chameleon might have edema. His behavior hasn't changed and he seems healthy other then the fact that I noticed that he has a fat, or swollen, neck. I only notice it at night time. I only noticed he had a couple of saggy skin under his two front armpits.
Could someone please give me advice on how to go about this issue, and what may be the cause.
-He is a 5 month old male nosy faly panther.
-I feed him 8-10 small-medium crickets and a mealworm every day or two.
-I dust the crickets with calcium without d3 every feeding.
-Once a week with exoterra multivitamins (I think i might be wrong here, I've read it's suppose to be every two weeks.)
-I feed the crickets orange cubes that I bought from the pet store.

This is him sleeping. You can see around his neck area that it's fairly swollen.

He looks fairly fine here, I think his neck is droopy right now cause he was a little mad I took him out of the cage.



This one if him about 1.5 months ago before this problem arose.

that first pic is too exposed from the red light to really see him at all.

the multivitamin is twice a month.

and that flukers stuff is crap.

find blogs by sandrachameleon, and read her stuff on gutloading properly.

I agree. Can't see much. Is he just puffed up in the second photo? If you see it behind his armpits it may just be starting. Are you feeding him everyday? Not sure if just the worms are every other day. How often do you use the D3?

Gutload in my opinion is the most over looked issue. If you want something easy, use cricket crack and or bug burger from repashy.

Im not convinced its a male. I couldnt say for sure without good photos of the tail base though.

As for the edema, I can see it in the first pic some. Edema can be caused by many things. Too little supplements/nutrients, too much, kidney failure etc. Most of the time it seems to be from over supplementing though.

Here is what I would do. First read the blog that was mentioned on gut loading. You really need to be feeding the feeders good food. I always say its best to have a good gut load than rely on the supplements for proper nutrition. Next, stop supplementing for a few weeks and make sure its drinking plenty of water. Once the swelling goes down start supplementing again but use less than what you were.

I think he is just puffed up a bit in the second photo, If he is swollen again tonight I will take another pic and post it. I feed him 8-10 small-medium crickets every day and for the D3 I haven't given him any. I read that as long as he gets lots of uvb and vitamins they'd be fine, though I could have been totally misinformed. If so how often should I give him the D3?

I wouldn't give him any D3 right now. I agree with Cain.... Read that blog and definitely give him lots of water. A vet visit may be in order for you. Better to error on the side of caution.

I would turn off the red light at night. Nothing to do with the edema but they do not need any type of light or heat at night unless your house is really cold below 50 degrees.
