Chameleon Info:
  • Your Chameleon - Veiled female 7 months old been in my care 2 1/2 months
  • Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon?- never
  • Feeding - crickets and superworms and roaches, she won't eat anything else yet
  • Supplements - i use flukers plain calcium and then rep cal herptivite and calcium with d3. i rotate the rep-cal weekly so she gets 2 doses of each per month and calcium the rest of the time
  • Watering - I use filtered and distilled water in a pump mister and keep going til the cage is soaked and i also keep going because she likes to drink from the nozzle a lot. twice a day
  • Fecal Description - color of urates is totaly normal. i have never had her checked for parasites as i took her in as a rescue and dont have resources for a vet visit right now
  • History - nada

Cage Info:
  • Cage Type - she's in a large reptibreeze
  • Lighting - i use zoomed 5.0 UVB and a 75 watt basking bulb
  • Temperature - temps are all over 95 at the top and slowly decrease as you go down the cage. lowest it gets at night i 75. i use an infrared laser to measure temps.
  • Humidity - i keep humidity levels around 50-80 depending on wether she is shedding or not. i don't keep a gage anyore because they keep breaking on me
  • Plants - no live plants just yet
  • Placement - in my kitchen which is not a high traffic area, and he cage sits on a stand but is still about 3.5 feet from the ceiling.
  • Location - North carolina usa

Current Problem - the problem i am worried about is that she is closing and squinting her eyes since yesterday. shes still moving about the cage and eating and drinking. Is it possible she could be egg bound at only 7 months old? When i palpitate her tummy i don't feel any eggs in there. but she has gained a little weight in her tummy but i could contribute that to receiving better care cause when i got her she was really skinny. Im also wondering if it could just be a dehydration problem? She doesnt always drink when i mist. I can also add that her eyes arent shrunken in or protruding, they look normal besides being closed or squinting

How new is the UVB bulb? If she was a rescue, she might not be used to the brightness of the UVB bulb.

Do you have a full cage view? Does she have plenty of places to get out of the light and into some cover when she feels the need?

i dont have a picture of the cage but she has fake plants and one big one that hangs from the center of the cage that is fake that she can actually climb into which she does at night to sleep. Im currently growing a pothos from a cutting and plan to swap out the fake plant with that once it's big enough. The UVB is bran new, right now i have a dome one. she came with a strip light but it shorted out, it was the same specs though. she actually favors sitting under her UVB light more than her basking light

You said..."The UVB is bran new, right now"....the light could be bothering her. Try leaving it off for a couple of days or taking her out of the cage for a while to see if she opens the eyes.
