Chameleon in Sri Lanka…

It’s not often we see that.
In USA/North America I have only seen Chamaeleo zeylanicus documented in literature and video. I have yet to view the species live and in the reptile hobby in North America. The species is not listed as Endangered. Chamaeleon zeylanicus is listed as a IUCN Least Concern species.

I haven’t seen them live either.
India and Sri Lanka where Chamaeleo zeylanicus is as a species is native to is from another part of the world compared to other chameleon species. I think export of species being from another region of the globe and a Hindu region makes for other parts of the world more difficult to obtain this species. Hindu religiousreleationship with people and nature is very interwoven as a religion. You could say revered.

Maybe I am going to have to visit India and Sri Lanka and have a go at spotting some Chamaeleo zeylanicus. When that happens I am going to have to take lots of pictures and video.
