Chameleon in a fish tank or other cheap enclosure.

Is it safe to keep a chameleon in a fish tank if the fish tank is big enough? What are some cheap enclosures for chameleons?

You really don't want to go cheap with any cage for a chameleon.

Don't house anything in an aquarium. You can however use Exo-Terra terrariums and the like. They have enough air flow to be of acceptable use for chameleons, but are more expensive.

ok im confused now. why do they say its alright to put a pygmy in an aqaurium with a screen topper in it? im lost now. i would use my exo terra if i get some..

I think the term "cheap" should be used anywhere in your setup.

Do you really want to go "cheap" when caring for the life of another living creature? I sure dont.

You can use an aquarium with a screen top, but there is more to it in creating the environment and the layers of substrate. To see what works, use the SEARCH feature, and type in Pygmy enclosures.
It will cost money up front to keep them alive and healthy.

You can put pygmies in an aquarium with a screen top. Check out the pygmy section of the forums. My first pygmy pair lived in an aquarium, layed eggs, produced babies. Do your research first, and see if they are something you'd enjoy owning. Don't just get them because you have a spare aquarium!
