Chameleon died

I am wondering if anyone can tell me how my chameleon died. He is an ambilobe panther chameleon about 1 year old and healthy, his temperature and humidity levels inside the terrarium were great, he gets fed crickets and sometimes meal worms, he gets sprayed daily and was not dehydrated. today i went to go spray him and he was on his branch but was not moving. he was bright red and blue still, but dead? and it looked as if he was about to climb up the branch. i tried to move him but his legs were so stiff and holding on really tight to the branch as if he was petrified and his eyes were still open. i have no idea what happened to my chameleon.... any information would be appreciated. thanks in advance

Please click on this link; complete and post this in the health clinic forum; This will help the experienced chameleon keepers to better understand your husbandry and perhaps be able to give you the answers you are looking for. I am sorry your chameleon died. It can be very puzzling but they are good at hiding an illness. If you have any pictures that may help as well. While my first chameleon was in the process of dying his colors were dark to almost black but after he passed his coloration was absolutely beautiful.

As said already, the devil is in the details...

There's no way we can guess unless we can review your husbandry and setup. The only other hint would be to get him necropsied by an experienced herp vet. If you are going to do this do not freeze him, refrigerate and take him in as soon as possible. There could have been some major sudden internal injury or illness going on that you wouldn't necessarily catch in time. Sorry you lost him!
