chameleon climbing on lid!

my veiled chameleon will not stop climbing on the top of his enclosure! he has never done this as consistently as he has been in the last week! i have had him for almost 2 years now! when i got him he was an adult and in horrible condition! he has made it through an abcess,2 broken legs and suspected tapeworms! he has never acted like this!!!! mind you all of those things were already wrong with him prior to his purchase! can some one please give us an idea of what might be wrong with him?

I think they like to do that. While neither of mine is good at it, both decide periodically to give "walking on the ceiling" a try.

My concern would be that he fall (because it's not as easy as they seem to think it is when they start, usually mine get back to the side or close enough to grab a branch, but both have taken at least one fall from the ceiling) and you say he's had 2 broken legs already.

If he falls, will he have a soft landing?

Or, "lid" was just the word that came to mind when typing the title...in the post he said "my veiled chameleon will not stop climbing on the top of his enclosure! "

As he's had the chameleon for 2 years, it's possible that the set up is acceptable to the chameleon.

Or he is barely holding onto life.....

My little buckaroo ferguson climbs on the top of his cage all the time in these crazy weird little circles then he back flips off onto a branch then dose it all over again he's a ca-razy boy!

i think it's something some of them like to do.
Mista did it everyday until he lost a few of his claws because of doing that and he can't do it now as he can't hold on.
Having said that it doesn't stop him trying lol
