Hi, I was wondering if I could keep my Jacksons Chameleon's cage outside, I live in South Florida so it's pretty hot and humid here... Opinions welcome Thanks
Yes. so long as you provide ample shaded areas in case he gets hot, and he gets lots of misting to drink and cool off.
if he gets too hot, he may spend his time lower in the cage, or he will sit with his mouth open. in which case, you may need to put him completly in the shade, or bring him inside.
The temps we have right now are ideal for them, well maybe a bit warmer on the high side. A nighttime drop into the 50's is fine for them. The bigger concern will be summer, they really don't like it much over 80. I would run a mister all day in one section of the cage and plant it as heavily as you can. Plant respiration will drop the temp a few degrees. My chams live outside year round and I am in St. Lucie county. I need to deal with a bit more cold than south Florida but not much more.
