chameleon and salmonella

is it true that first chameleons carry salmonella and just touching them can pass it on?

I believe all animals can carry diseases. Good hygiene is necessary when dealing with animals. If it is wild caught collect a sample of poo and have it tested for parasites. Welcome to the forum.

I can only speak for myself, but I let my chams out all the time to run around in the house -( not lately, as they are all outside -) and have never had an issue with anyone getting sick - I would not lick my cham - and I do wash my hands after handling them -
they say you are more likely to get Salmonella from a bathroom or food than an animal - I would not worry to much as long as you are clean about things- but that is always something to think about, and keep in mind
