Hello ive noticed that my Cham has started sleeping during the day is there any main reason for this ? He is about 5 months and is usually a dark colour !

Oh boy... Sleeping during the day is a strict warning to sickness or/e your lighting may not be correct... What type of UVB light are you using?

its a repti glo 10.00 uvb inside the viv. i have ordered another one but ive been waiting a week already ! i think the light is to bright for him

Your Chameleon - 4 month nosy be panthet in my viv for 10 days
Handling - He has come on to my hand once
Feeding - i let about 10 small crickets in his cage at a time and wait until there is a few left also i have a small transparrent pot with some mealworms in.
Supplements - I have a mixed nutrient powder which I have used once but will make sure crickets are dusted twice a month
Watering - I mist my cham 2 - 5 times a day I see him drinking off the viv wall I recently put a very shallow bowl in as well
Fecal Description - I've seen 3 poops one was very large with a white tip and 2 others which were smaller with white tips
History -

Cage Type - Viverium. Is wooden with front sliding glass doors. 1ft 3 inch deep, 2ft wide 3ft high
Lighting - I have a reptiglo 10.00 UVB and a 100w reflector heat bulb. I've got the reptiglo on a timer from 8:30 am to 8:30 pm but have recently been turning off about 6 as i believe it's to bright
Temperature - the average is just about 77 in the centre of the cage I believe the basking spot is about 85
Humidity - About 70% I maintain this by misting and I measur by having a hydrometer in the centre of the viv
Plants - I only have fake plants
Placement - My viv is on the top of my drawers so the top of the viv is about 5 foot 4inch high. There is a fair amount of movement as it is in my bedroom but during the day there is not as Im at work
Location - uk

Thats not a good idea, you can put the reptiglo on top of the viv and the basking bulb 6-8 inches away from the viv,so he doesn't get burned. Pictures of your viv now would be a great help.

Depending on the design, glass vivariums can provide adequate airflow. Owners in the UK often use a predominately glass enclosure because humidity is very hard to maintain. The bulbs are often also inside.
Normally I would say the water bowl should be removed but if the animal has learned to drink from it, then it might be better to keep it in. It sounds like the animal is well hydrated and part of that might be from drinking from the bowl.
This board recommends plain calcium without D3 daily, a multi-vitamin 2x/month and D3 2x/month.
I question your temperatures. A 100 watt bulb in the enclosure should create a much hotter basking spot. For that animal in that size enclosure, I think 85F is a good basking temperature, I just sort of doubt that's what you have.
Also, as CreatureLover says, the 10.0 is probably too much. Particularly as you have it in the enclosure. I would definitely knock that back to a 5.0.
The temps and the bulb seem to me to be the most likely culprits.

Hi there. Creaturelover123 has given some good advice above, however I would like to know more about your supplements. What are the brand names and how often do you use them? I have had a series's of wooden vivs the present one has glass doors and a screen top. It also has ventilation vents in the sides. I have no problem with humidity or ventilation using this viv. I have had heat bulbs inside the viv and they are not a problem as long as you use a cage over them. My present system enables me to use my basking lamp above the screen top and I do prefer this. Both systems have worked well for my location and where I keep my viv. Hope that helps.

I think you want to get a temperature gun so you can accurately measure the temperature at the basking spot.

the nutrients i use is called nutrobal, i currently use it 2 or 3 times a month, i have only used its once on my first feeding
i think i need to purchase a calcium powder which i could use daily though

Also i forgot to mention i have a bark chip at the bottom of the viv
He also hides just above the middle section of the viv.
I do want to put some live plants in there but i am not good with plants atall and would not know were to begin lookin :/ any pointers apreciated ! lol
This payday i think i will go on a lil shopping spree for him and get him everything he needs such as a dripper, is there any other fun objects which i could get for him to climb and enjoy ?

Yeah, you need a plain calcium to use daily. The one I use is called Komodo cricket dust - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Komodo-Cricket-Dust-200g/dp/B002R1CK44
And more branches and foliage will make him feel much more comfortable in there, just make sure he can't get too close to the light, but you have some spare space to fill up while he's so small

Yep you need plain calcium for 4-5 times a week.. I use nutrabol every two weeks. Once you get to grips with gutloading and different feeders you can tweak your supplementing to suit you. There is such a lot if info on here about supplementing it will fry your brain LOL I would stick to that till you learn more. Any changes I would run it past forum members first. One big difference between chams in the US and chams in UK is that a lot of US chams get outside time which is great for natural d3 while Brit chams get frostbite.LOL

Callum, I can kill a plant by looking at it, but each of my cages has a big, beautiful pothos right in the middle filling it up with branches to climb and leaves to hide behind or eat. They seem to thrive on chameleon poop and water. I strongly recommend them.
